Author

Abstract

This study focuses on lifestyle that is identified as a key issue in contemporary literature particularly in psychology and social sciences. This study investigates the association between lifestyle and religiosity. The discussion of this article is based on a survey conducted in Ahvaz city and its sample includes 383 females who have been chosen on the basis of multi-stage cluster sampling method. This study examines religiosity both as whole and in terms of its two main dimensions (namely, belief and emotional). It also measures lifestyle with three major components including cultural consumption, body management, and leisure activities.
Generally speaking, the research findings confirm a significantly positive relationship between lifestyle and religiosity (both as whole and in terms of its two main dimensions). However, detailed analysis show that leisure activities are not significantly associated with ceremonial dimension. Furthermore, the findings of the logistic regression analysis indicate that the belief dimension of religiosity holds the greatest effect on lifestyle. In sum, the independent variables of this study could explain 38/25 percent of variations in its dependent variable, that is, lifestyle.
