The existing literature on citizens’ social participation is mainly limited to megacities, while smaller cities have not been given sufficient attention. Accordingly, this study aims to contribute filling this research gap. The results of this analysis are based on a survey that includes 355 citizens of Barzok town in Kashan.
The results of this analysis illustrate that citizens’ tendency towards social participation is significantly associated with social trust, the feeling of local belonging and civic services satisfaction. Moreover, the multivariate results illustrate that amongst other determinants, local belonging tends to play the strongest role in citizens’ social participation.
