Sociological Analysis of Learned Exhaustion Stage in Medical Institutions

Abstract

This study focuses on learned exhaustion stage from a sociological perspective. In this study, the term, learned exhaustion stage, refers to a particular situation in which the patients end up with this feeling that things are out of their own control. This study has used questionnaires and collected data from patients in the hospitals of Tehran City. It has found evidence to support the existence of learned exhaustion stage. According to the results of this study, the feeling of learned exhaustion stage is associated with social determinants. This includes such determinants as low level of control on the circumstances, instability between individual activity and receiving appropriate response.
